Sue Gillingham
Suenami Art is making waves through the art world. A unique artistic style, created by Susan Gillingham, a professional artist and graphic designer. Suenami Art splashes on the scene with it’s Caribbean style and tropical flare. For those with a passion for the ocean, waves, diving or marine wildlife nothing compares to the eye-catching artwork of Susan Gillingham.
Getting her professional training at Parsons School of Design, Sue immersed herself in the museums and art galleries of New York City along the way. When she left the city and moved to South Florida to attend The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, a love and respect for the ocean was instilled in her.
While traveling and exploring Florida and the Caribbean, creating brochures for exotic and ecotourism destinations she was introduced to the fragile beauty of our reefs, glades and islands by some of the most renowned oceanographer’s and underwater photographers of the time. Susan would spend hours examining and sketching the way sun bounces through the aqua blue ocean or how the glow of the Super Moon shimmers on the iridescent sand while a green sea turtle follows it’s path back to the water. It was here that she realized she could meld her artwork with her love of the sea. Sue’s artistic style continues to evolve as she adopts new materials and techniques along with an ever growing dedication to the protection of our oceans, the coral reef and it’s ecosystem.
When not painting, you can find Susan on her boat exploring the waterways, shores and islands of Florida. She spends her days diving, fishing and snorkeling, soaking up the beauty of the sea, the coast and it’s wildlife. It is hear that she finds the inspiration for her paintings.
Sue emerged as an artist at the Artigras art festival and exhibited at the 1310 Gallery, Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts, Studio 18, Blue Wild Ocean Adventure Expo, The South Florida Homeshow and Art Fort Lauderdale - “Art Fair on the Water”. She won Best Oil Painting at the prestigious Art By Design Show, Miami Design Center and is the President of the Weston Art Guild.
